# Figures and method for home-buying information

See how periods, origins and limitations are recorded for housing-market figures.

## How figures are selected

Information about prices, mortgages, taxes and local housing costs carries a clear period and a traceable origin. Where possible, we use official statistics, municipal publications and explanations from public bodies.

## Period and origin

A figure without a reference date can create the wrong impression. Each subject states the measurement period, area and way the figure was assembled.

## Limits of figures

An average describes a group and does not predict an individual home or mortgage. Neighbourhood, home type, condition and personal terms can change the result. Use figures as a starting point for questions about your own situation.
